Predestination
It's late tonight. The new season just started for League today, so I got very distracted playing today. Work also went... okay? I completed the task I had planned to, after a ton of time spent thinking about coding practices. I had always thought it was more difficult than writing new code, however I never thought it would be as difficult as it was today. In order to refactor well, its basically like untying one of those human knots. Or like a pretty large Rubik's cube. Step one is to understand the code. This is the annoying part. Especially in Clojure, it's pretty convoluted. You kind of have to run the code by hand, or in your head, to figure out what it is doing and what the programmers intent was for it. And then, you gotta pull out that functionality and put it somewhere else. Then, the tedious part, changing all the references to use the new one. And finally, the hardest part, naming it as concisely as possible while still communicating the functionality. So yea, whole day was doing that.Today's devotion was on Isaiah 58:6-9. It reminds me of last Saturday, when I ate two dinners. While Steve and I were walking to the restaurant, a pretty scruffy looking man yelled out to us, asking us to buy him dinner. And I thought it was strange, since he asked for dinner and not cash. Steve told him he didn't have cash. I had cash, but I hesitated. Then he asked again so we walked into the closest restaurant and Steve bought him dinner. I've been told that God's plan will always happen, we only get to decide if we want to participate. I didn't think of it at the time, but now I guess I didn't follow through and God used Steve instead.I've also decided to start a plan to lose tummy fat. I'll eat dinner earlier, and skip breakfast (which I already do). Doesn't seem to hard, but I need to stop snacking at 11pm and right before I sleep.Things I'm thankful for today:
- Predestination
- work went well kinda ish
Things to improve tomorrow:
- sleep earlier/wake up earlier
- remember to write a post.
