GMK Keycaps

So GMK is one of the most popular keycap manufacturers. They apparently use the original Cherry keycap molds, and they are known for QUALITY. So some of the features that they are known for:

  1. Double shot legends: essentially the legends on the keycaps will never fade, since its actually a separate colored plastic, instead of being printed on the surface

  2. thicc. This contributes to a less high pitched sound and I guess more of a feeling of quality

  3. Textured tops (kinda grainy texture on the top as opposed to completely smooth)

Because of their popularity, most keycap sets tend to be GMK.

In general they are nice keycaps, but I think I prefer smoother tops. I feel like the texture on the top makes my fingers slip more easily when I’m attempting to type faster. Also I guess I would prefer a slightly more rounded top, for the same reason. Also, in comparison to SA keycaps, they are lower and therefore have less space within the key for the sound to resonate. I’m guessing this causes a slightly more muted/less bassy sound.

So… here’s a quick summary:
I prefer SA profile to Cherry. Also I don’t like the texture. However, the most of the keycap sets that I think look good are GMK sets which means I end up using GMK keycaps anyways.
