Week something something - some number

So you've probably forgotten that I'm supposed to write a weekly post by now, but just in case you think that applies to me, I have not forgotten! Just a lot of random things came up. I'm gonna spend the rest of the post explaining everything as interestingly as possible. Here's out it all played out.

It was the weekend before I was going to be on call. I woke up pretty early, about 7 or 8 and wandered downstairs because I was feeling a little hungry. I ate some pork jerky that was left out, and then went back upstairs and fell asleep. That was mistake #1. When I woke up later that day, my stomach felt a little funny. Usually that feeling means I'm going to have a bad day. Specifically, bad day for my stomach. I casually ignored it and went to church for the social distancing picnic. I was told there would be s'mores and hot chocolate, and there's no way I'm missing free s'mores and hot chocolate. Got to church. Feeling weird, and that's when I made the second mistake. Josh had McDonalds. I had just seen an ad about their new spicy chicken nuggets, and I was very curious. Then Ariel was like "we can get them to deliver!" So, we ordered spicy chicken nuggets. They were a little too spicy, and on top of that I dunked them in buffalo sauce. Big... HUGE... mistake. So my stomach went from feeling funny, to feeling very funny. So like think of your favorite comedian, and then instead of being funny imagine him/her being super cringe. And instead of your brain cringing, it's your stomach. So anyways, I had a kbbq with a friend, so I left to go do that. My stomach started to hurt, and it got worse and worse as we were waiting for them to call us for kbbq. And by the time we got in, the most I could do was drink water and try to chew some rice. Even tried to poo, because usually that works right? But it wasn't a poo issue. Eventually, we just went home and I finally got myself to throw up. And the pain was kinda gone after that, mostly. The next day I felt sore all over, so I basically stayed in bed all day and didn't eat anything (bad idea). Tried to make rice porridge, but apparently it's supposed to be TONS of water and I only used tons of water. It ended up just being super wet rice... Like you had leftover rice, and then you poured water in it and left it there for a couple hours.

So the next week was my on call week. And first thing Tuesday morning/Monday night, there was a giant incident... And all the alarms were going off, so I got very little sleep for the first couple days. The problem wasn't even caused by my team, so all I could do was wait for it to be fixed. There wasn't much I could do, but it was pretty stressful. Was even worse because presenting the new feature was very soon and I couldn't work on that either. After that week, I wanted to try to catch up on sleep, which is why I didn't write that weekend. (The catching up on sleep thing didn't happen btw)

The week after was my secondary on call week, and nothing happened. My team decided it would be best for me to put off following up on my on call stuff to make sure all the stuff required for the new feature would be complete in time for the demo/presentation. So there was a lot of work that I had to do pretty fast. And then last weekend I was like, I'm technically still on call... I'll just put off writing the post for next week.

So last week, I presented the stuff, after rushing Monday/Tuesday to get in all the changes. And then this weekend I kept thinking I should write a post, and then didn't. I'm very disciplined. Yup.

So basically everything went wrong right before/during my on call week. And now I'm finally getting around to writing a post.

In other news, during Prime Day(s) there was a pretty big sale on Kindles, so I decided to buy one. I think I should read more, but I'm not exactly sure how to get myself to read. Hoping that the money I spent on the kindle will incentivize me to read. (probably not) But in case I do end up reading... does anyone have book recommendations? I like novels...

Also the new iphone was announced last week, and I'm planning to switch back. But I have small hands and I'm not sure if the better cameras on the max are worth getting a larger screen... I've decided I should wait for camera reviews of the max to come out, but I'm really impatient, and keep going back to Apple's site to put in a order. And then I get to the checkout page, and I'm like "I should wait, I don't wanna regret not getting the max later."

So... that's it for now I guess. Hopefully I end up getting back on track with these weekly posts.
